Prinzen Poultry Farm
A family farm. Our original farm, on County Road 3 in Prince Edward County, has been a chicken farm since the 1940's and has been in the family since 1978. Prinzen Poultry Farm began in 2005 after purchasing from Bayview Poultry, our parents. Over the years the barns and equipment have gone through many different upgrades to stay current with today's market needs and strict biosecurity protocols. In 2018 we purchased property at 2819 Victoria Rd so we could build a new barn. We built a 420 x 64' barn so we could start moving production to the new location with more modern controls and ventilation. With new standards and catching processes, our older barns at home would not be able to be used in the coming years. In 2022 we began construction of a 2nd barn to mirror the first barn. After completion in 2023 we moved all production from the home farm to the new location. Chicken Farmers of Canada and Chicken Farmers of Ontario have strict rules governing how many kilos of chicken we can produce per year along with how many birds can be put in the barns based on square feet available. Our chickens are raised without cages and have full access to the floor they are on. Feed and water is available 24 hours a day with light and dark periods. Access is restricted from the outside which keeps domestic birds, that could have sicknesses, out of the barns. All this allows us to provide you the consumer, a great quality food product. |
